Friends and I were out for a Sunday coffee and popped into Ninos Cafe but although the decor was swish the music was a bit thumpy for a sunny Sunday. A young woman there named Kim asked if we were staying and when I said the noise was a bit much she said, “I’ll turn it down for you. Come and sit in and I’ll get your order straight away. Are you in for coffee or a meal?”

Ka-Ching Ka-Ching!!

BUT I CAN'T DO THAT
Contrast that with a hotel where I used to stay in Sydney (only because the client found it convenient to his work to book me into the horrible place) where the breakfast radio was full-on four talking heads going hammer and tongs at a raucous level. I asked if it could be turned down as it was a bit much to put up with in the restaurant but the response was: “The chef likes it!” As if the whole hotel was built for the pleasure of the wally flipping the eggs!
